IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Truman Stone
December 16, 1940 – November 20, 2021
William "Bill" Truman Stone passed away on Saturday November 20th, 2021, at his residence in Sterling, CO. There will be no services at this time. Up through his last days, he was surrounded by loving, caring friends who experienced his endless humor, if not his persistent, strong-willed personality. Bill was born on December 16, 1940, in Monroe, Wisconsin to Truman and Edna Stone. Raised in Ionia, Michigan, he excelled as a men's gymnastics state finalist in high school. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he served at Patuxent Naval Air Station, and later aboard a destroyer attached to the USS Forrestal battle group. After his stint in the Navy, he returned to Michigan. Later in life, he moved to Florida, then Texas, and finally Colorado.
Bill was always known for his quick wit, and incredible talent for working with his hands, whether it be painting, carpentry, or model building: he was the consummate perfectionist. He will be mostly remembered for his endless humor and love of life. Always entertaining, people rarely did not break out laughing within five minutes of having met him.
Late in life Bill realized that God was real, and he confessed a heartfelt desire to be with the Lord after he died. Asked what changed him after a life of denying God, he answered, "You get wisdom when you get old". He is survived by his older sister, two daughters, and two sons, Mike and Bill, and several grandchildren. He is sorely missed by all his dear friends and family.
