William 'Bill' Torrez

William "Bill" Torrez, 76, of Sterling, died March 10, 2008, in Sterling. Recitation of the Rosary and funeral services will be held at noon Friday, March 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with Deacon Ronald Michieli officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Torrez was born Feb. 11, 1932, to Manuel Torrez Sr. and Ruperta (Hernandez) Torrez in Hershey, Neb. He attended schools in Ovid, where he graduated from high school.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952. While in the service, he received training as an operator in radio interception at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. He also received clearance for special services as an undercover agent.
Mr. Torrez served during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he was employed in construction work.
He married Carmen Torrez; they later divorced.
Mr. Torrez is survived by his brothers, Pete Torrez of Greeley, Ray Torrez of Denver, Manuel Torrez Jr. of Denver, and Patrick Torrez of Fort Collins; and sister, Elsie Blea of Fort Lupton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
