Wayne F. Rossen Jr., 77, of Merino, died Nov. 18, 2007, in Merino. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with services concluding there. Private family inurnment will be in Cortez.
Mr. Rossen was born April 24, 1930, in Gothenburg, Neb., to Wayne Rossen Sr. and Ruby (Anderson) Rossen. He graduated from Merino High School in 1947.
He served in the U.S. Army from September 1947 to July 1950. He lived in the Denver area for 10 years, and then in Littleton before moving to the Sterling area in 2003.
Mr. Rossen was a member of Merino Methodist Church, and a former member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, American Legion Post No. 20 and VFW Post No. 3541.
He is survived by two sons, Jon (Heather) Rossen Sr. of Willard, and Rick (Tiana) Rossen of Littleton; daughter, Wendy (Mike) Almond of Webster, Fla.; four stepchildren, Shaleen (Jeff) Lovitt of Phoenix, Doreen Cruthirds of Austin, Texas, John Cruthirds of Austin, and Kirk Cruthirds of Iowa; two sisters, Carol (Keith) Gentry of Sterling, and Judy (Gene) Jones of El Centro, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Joyce Rossen of Merino; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rossen was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Maynes) Rossen; parents; infant son, Chris Rossen; brother, Ronald Rossen; niece, Kristin Jones; great-grandson, Mikah Martinez; and ex-wife, Opal Collier.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.
