Obituary

Walter Keith Sawhill, 80, of Sterling, died Jan. 10, 2010, in Loveland. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Chaney-Reager, with Robbie "Bert" Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born Nov. 27, 1929, to George and Ruth (Hutchinson) Sawhill in Boulder. He attended Valmont School, a two-room schoolhouse, and graduated from Boulder High School in 1948.

Mr. Sawhill was a truck driver.

On Sept. 2, 1972, he married Loretta Robinson in Loveland. The couple moved to Sterling in 1975, where Mr. Sawhill began working for Fred Young and Sons custom grinding.
He enjoyed traveling, reading and food. He loved anything country, reading Peanuts comics and watching Andy Griffith. He was always ready with a riddle or a piece of trivia.

Mr. Sawhill is survived by his wife, Loretta M. Sawhill of Sterling; daughter, Gayle Sawhill of Demming, N.M.; stepson, Bert Robinson and wife Karey of Longmont; stepdaughter, Lorene Dugwyler and husband Jerry of Gresham, Ore.; brother, Gene Sawhill and wife Pat of Boulder; and sister, Joy Keeter and husband Buddy of Boulder; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth; son, Walter Keith Sawhill; and sister, Kathryn Kline.
