Vivian M. Leacock, 92, passed away peacefully on her 92nd birthday, May 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 24, 1934, in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, Vivian was the daughter of the late Edwin and Vivian (Horrell) Lowman.

A celebration of Vivian's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2026, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral home with Reverend Michelle Witherspoon officiating. Vivian will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.

Vivian often reflected fondly on the simplicity of her childhood. Growing up during the Great Depression and World War II taught her to appreciate life’s little moments and never take anything for granted. From the time she was a little girl, she knew she wanted to become a mother.

She met the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, William Leacock, while attending Derry Township High School. The couple married on August 25, 1951, beginning a beautiful marriage that would span 64 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and laughter.

Vivian cherished raising her children along the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio, where summers were spent on the beach, boating, attempting to water ski, and fishing trips in Ontario, Canada, . She treasured the close-knit neighborhood where everyone looked after one another and where her children were free to grow, explore, and create lifelong memories. In 1972, the family relocated to Greece, New York, where their three youngest children completed high school.

As her children grew older and began families of their own, Vivian expanded her heart even further even becoming a foster mother. Gifted with endless compassion, she devoted more than 30 years to fostering children with disabilities, sometimes caring for three children at once. Though she received numerous awards recognizing her dedication as a foster parent, Vivian never sought praise; caring for children was simply who she was. She was especially proud to be the foster mother of Susan M. Brown, whom she loved as her own for more than three decades.

Nothing brought Vivian greater joy than babies and her grandchildren. Becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother filled her heart completely. Her family was her greatest pride and purpose.

Later in life, Vivian and William enjoyed traveling together. One of the most cherished adventures of their lives was traveling to Thailand to meet the family of their youngest son’s wife. A number of years after retirement they moved to Florida to escape the snows of upstate New York. Vivian always sought peace and calm for her family.

In her quieter moments, Vivian could often be found reading books or catching up on the latest tabloid gossip. She loved music and dancing, and those who knew her will forever remember her feisty spirit, kindness, genuine nature, and unwavering acceptance of others.

The family finds comfort in imagining Vivian reunited with her beloved husband, dancing together once more to their favorite song, the 1959 classic “Puppy Love.”
