Virginia Dorothy (Lockhart) Wagner, 96, of Sterling, died Feb. 13, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Church of the Nazarene with Jeff Bloomfield and the Rev. Dale Wesley officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Wagner was born Jan. 16, 1911, at the family homestead in Peetz to Henry and Agnes Lockhart.
In 1929, she married Kenneth Wagner. They were married for 28 years.
She worked as a bookkeeper and clerk in the agricultural field. Her hobbies included crocheting, baking, cooking, dancing and her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge No. 27 and a charter member of the BPO Does No. 213.
Mrs. Wagner is survived by her daughter, Willa Deane Kelsch of Sterling; sister, Corlee Ball of Sterling; three brothers, Russell Lockhart and wife Jeanette of Tucson, Ariz., Hilton Lockhart of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Melvin Lockhart and wife Betty of Sterling; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Carroll Wagner and Bud Wagner; daughter-in-law, Joy Wagner; son-in-law, Jack Kelsch; and one brother, Kenny Lockhart.
