Violet May (Hlad) Lindstrom, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Viewing will be held from 1-6 p.m., Friday, April 17, at Halouska family Funeral Home with family to receive friends from 4-6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, at Sterling Berean Church with Pastor Daniel Holsten officiating. Violet will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
Violet was born on November 26, 1937, in Hoisington, Kansas, she was the beloved daughter of Charles and Bertha Isabel (Sellens) Hlad.
Violet and her family moved to Roggen, Colorado, when she was in 3rd grade where she attended school. She later graduated from Prospect Valley High School. She went on to attend Colorado State University. During her college years, she attended the First Baptist Church and met her loving husband, Gilbert Lindstrom.
Violet and Gilbert were united in marriage on August 28, 1959, and their lifelong partnership was rooted in love and a shared devotion to Christ. They made their first home in Fort Collins, Colorado, while Gilbert completed his master’s degree. They then spent a year in Australia, where they welcomed their first child—an experience that reflected their adventurous spirit and deep trust in God’s leading.
Violet was a devoted farm wife and faithful steward of her many gifts. For 30 years, she owned and managed Sterling Greenhouse and Nursery, where her love of gardening blossomed into a thriving greenhouse/floral shop. She also found joy in sewing and crocheting, making baby blankets for her grandkids, great-grandkids, and friends.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Violet was a dedicated member of the Berean Church and was actively involved in Gideons International, giving New Testament Bibles to many she met. She lived out her faith daily through kindness, service, and unwavering trust in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Stanley Hlad.
Violet’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Ray Lindstrom; her children: Ruth (Dennis) Mullins, Mary (Matt) Brewer, and Beth (Dan) Holsten; her grandchildren: Nathaniel (Becca), Alison, Josh, Emily; Michael (Bethany), Mark (Rachel), Megan (Dylan); Andrew and Rachel; and 10 great-grandchildren and two brothers Paul Hlad; Bill (Tena) Hlad of Foley, Alabama. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Violet will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered for her steadfast faith, gentle spirit, and the love she poured into her family and community.
