Obituary

Violet Rose Bartlett Violet Rose Bartlett, 77, of Sterling, died Oct. 29, 2009, in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Peace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Eugene Zeller officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
She was born Feb. 7, 1932, to Henry and Mollie (Herzog) Nikel in Padroni. She graduated from high school and then attended college in Omaha, Neb.
On March 7, 1954, she married Richard Bartlett at Peace Lutheran Church in Sterling. They lived in Merino, Wyoming and Cope, returning to Merino in 1976.
Mrs. Bartlett worked for the campaign for Great Western Sugar Company until it closed. She spent the past 17 years working for the U.S. Postal Service.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rainbows of Happiness Home Makers Club and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Bartlett is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Bartlett of Sterling; daughters, Sandy Passeno and husband Jeff of Southfield, Mich., and Lisa Wolever and husband David of Sterling; sons, Rick Bartlett of Folsom, Calif., and Hugh Bartlett and wife Lynn of Sterling; sister, Oleta Gronsten and husband Shorty of Fort Morgan; aunt, Bernice Alley of Sterling; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dora Walraven; and brother-in-law, John Walraven.
