Victor E. Amen, 91, of Burlington, died Oct. 8, 2009, in Burlington. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with Herman Albrandt officiating. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Amen was born Nov. 5, 1917, to Andrew Amen Jr. and Mary (Wiederspan) Amen in Sterling. He attended school in Logan and Crook.
He farmed in the area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from December 1942 until being discharged in February 1946.
In 1948, he married Clara Alfred in Indiana. They later divorced.
Mr. Amen enjoyed hunting and loved horses and motorcycles.
He is survived by his sisters, Helen Dies of New Carlisle, Ind., Violet Schaffer of Fort Morgan, Lucille Amen of Kewanee, Ill., Florence Fritzler of Greeley and Marline Kubal of Chicago; and brothers, Henry Amen of Greeley, Jerry Amen of Sterling and Donald Amen of Colorado Springs.
Mr. Amen was preceded in death by his sisters, Esther Scriven and Alma Dies; and brothers, Alvin Amen and Leland Amen.
