Obituary

Vern Borth (88) was born in Sterling, Colorado and died January 17th, 2025.   He graduated from Brighton High and NJC and then attended Columbia Bible College in South Carolina (now Columbia International University).  Here Vern met his future wife, Gay, and upon marrying in 1965, returned to Sterling.

Vern thrived on serving the public at Burke's TV, Walker Radio, The Rocky Mountain News, The Sterling Journal Advocate, and The Journal Office Supply.

Vern had always wanted to serve the Lord; his ministry came to fruition first as a youth leader and deacon, as a foster parent (helping 24 children), doing five-day clubs, involvement with Young Life and then through prison ministry.  He also enjoyed being a charter member of Sterling's chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Vern is survived by his wife, Gay, his children and grandchildren: Todd & Kelly (Emme & Aven), Jeff & Lisa (Blake & Daisy), Paul & Jessica (Palmer), and Jneille.  His surviving siblings are Jewel Sonnenberg and Richard Borth.  The family is especially grateful to the Harmony Home ladies for their patience and gentle care.

Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sterling.  Pastor Sean Cole will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please instead make donations to Lighthouse Transitional Housing, and mail to Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, PO Box 1046, Sterling, CO 80751.
