Valerie Kathleen Fisher, 52, passed away on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007. Visitation will be held until 7 p.m. today, Sept. 4, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Closed casket funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Derek DeToni-Hill and the Rev. Joyce DeToni-Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
Over the past several years, she had many health problems, facing them all with courage and humor.
Valerie was born March 20, 1955, to James "Jim" Fisher and Virginia (Palmer) Fisher in Sterling. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1973, Northeastern Junior College in 1975 and Colorado State University in 1978. Following a career as an occupational therapist in Greeley, Fort Collins, Sterling, Fort Morgan, Holyoke, LaJunta and Nebraska, she returned to Sterling to work for Sykes. She was with Sykes for many years, eventually transferring to Klamath Falls, Ore. When failing health forced her to stop working, she returned to Sterling in 2005.
Val was active in Girl Scouts and loved making and teaching crafts.
Valerie is survived by her father, Jim Fisher and his special friend Anne Dvorak; two sisters; Jaci Koester and husband Dean of Peetz, and Vicky Andersen and husband Doug of Wellington; nephews, who held a special place in her heart, Jared and Cameron Koester and Ian and Eric Andersen; her uncle and aunt, Harry and Mildred Palmer and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Floy Fisher and Art and Esther Palmer; and by her beloved mother, Virginia Fisher.
