Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 18 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
He was born on September 18, 1925 to Wilbur and Gladys (Tow) Sieck in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the third of four children. He married Elsie Steinhausen on October 12, 1945 and they were married 62 years.
Truman was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings, his wife of 62 years, and their daughter, Bonnie, who passed away at the age of 11 in 1958.
While he was growing up, Truman's parents moved several times between Colorado and Nebraska before settling in Nebraska in the Sprague area. He enlisted in the Navy in December, 1942 and was discharged in November, 1946. He served aboard the submarine tender USS Orion where he was a plank owner.
After he got out of the Navy, he worked on a farm north of Lincoln, Nebraska for his brother-in-law. He then moved his family to Rokeby, Nebraska and farmed land owned by his father-in-law, Roy Steinhausen. He was a dairy farmer for eight years. In 1958, the family moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado and he worked 23 years for the Denver Chicago Trucking company, where he retired in 1981. In 1985, Truman and Elsie moved to Crook, Colorado. Elsie passed away there in 2008.
Truman loved all kinds of animals, especially horses. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and recreational softball. He was a member of the Teamster's Union, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and was a 4-H leader. His hobby was spending time with his family.
Truman and Elsie had been close to Elsie's sister Hilda. Hilda had been a widow for 23 years and she and Truman decided that they would make good companions. They thanked God for bringing them together and promised Him they would faithfully take care of each other the rest of their lives. They alternated their time between his home in Colorado and hers in Firth. They both enjoyed traveling and took many trips together. This year, their health declined to the point that they could no longer live independently. In July, they moved into Lakeview Living in Firth, Nebraska where they have received excellent care.
Truman is survived by five children: Barbara (Jerry) Noonan of Tenino, Washington; John (Belva) Sieck of Crook, Colorado; Betty (Frank) Christel of Owasso, Oklahoma; Bill (Carlyn) Sieck of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Wayne (Gaila) Sieck of Crook, Colorado. They had nine grandsons, four granddaughters, ten great-grandsons, seventeen great-granddaughters (with another due in January 2019) and one great great-grandson.
