Timothy J. Hoppe, 72 of Sterling passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. He died of complications from a massive stroke the he had on Feb. 22, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Hackbarth officiating. The service will conclude at the chapel.

Tim was born August 21, 1945 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Ervin John and Alice Lucille (Windell) Hoppe. He attended school in Goodland, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1970. Tim worked as a conductor for the BNSF Railroad for 32 years. He married Sharon Gaughenbaugh on June 10, 2003 in Estes Park, CO.

Tim was a member of the NRA, VFW and the Sterling Gun Club. He enjoyed shooting, loved riding his motorcycle and loved to listen to music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Over the years, he accumulated a huge music library. Tim was also active in the military support group in Sterling.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Tim is survived by his wife, Sharon; brother Bruce (Jan) Hoppe of Windsor, CO; step-son, Bryan (Caresse) Scheuler of Houston, TX and their children, TJ, Bryanna, Charra and Cealey; step-son, Tracy (Julie) Kellogg of Junction City, KS and their children, Alisha, Scott, Trevor and Maddie; mother-in-law Charlotte Gaughenbaugh of Republican City, NE; brothers-in-law, Howard Gaughenbaugh of Republican City, NE and Bruce ( Diane) Gaughenbaugh of Pueblo, CO and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made in Tim's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
