Obituary

Thomas M. Rose, 80 of Sterling, Colorado went to be with his loving Lord on Friday, February 7, 2025.  Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13 at Faith Cornerstone Church, 230 Williams Place, Sterling, CO, 80751. The service will conclude at the church.

Tom was born in Littleton, Colorado to Lloyd and Elsie (Montgomery) Rose on March 21, 1944.  Tom had two older sisters, Beryl and Neva and an older brother, Jim.  Tom lived a life marked by love and compassion.  He was dedicated to his work and his family.  His kindness, faith and abilities in custom cabinetry are aspects that he will always be remembered for.  Tom was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Tom joined the Navy in 1962 and was stationed in China Lake.  Tom was blessed with a family that grew in love throughout his life. He was first married to Sue Apt, and together they welcomed two children, Adam and Amy. Though their paths later took different directions, Tom remained a loving and supportive father. Later, he found love again with Geri, with whom he shared many joyful years.  After Tom and Geri were married, he adopted Jodie.

In 1978 Tom moved to Sterling and went into partnership with Milo Witcomb at Unique Manufacturing located in Padroni.   In 1988 Tom and Milo sold Unique and Tom opened Creative Woodworking in Iliff.   Throughout his life, Tom found great joy and purpose in his craft as a skilled cabinet builder. With steady hands and a keen eye for detail, he created beautiful, lasting pieces that graced countless homes and businesses. His work was more than just wood and nails—it was a reflection of his patience, dedication, and passion for quality craftsmanship. Whether building for family, friends, or customers, he took pride in every project, leaving behind a legacy of fine craftsmanship that will be cherished for generations. Tom Retired in 2000 when he sold the business to his son, Adam when Tom and Geri became snowbirds traveling back and forth to Yuma, Arizona.

Tom was a devoted servant of God who lived out his faith through action. As a dedicated member of Gideons International, he had a deep passion for sharing God's Word, ensuring that countless people had access to the Scriptures. Tom held numerous local and state level positions.  His heart for ministry extended to the local prison, where he faithfully shared the hope and grace of Christ with those seeking redemption. Tom was also a member of Faith Cornerstone Church.

Tom was a member of the Iliff City Council for nine years and enjoyed sharing his woodworking knowledge with the youth as judge at the Logan County Fair.

Beyond his work, Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, known for his generosity, wisdom, and quiet strength. He enjoyed sharing stories, offering a helping hand, and spending time with loved ones. Whether watching his grandsons play high school sports or his granddaughters show their   4-H animals, Tom found joy in life's simple moments. In 2022 the family welcomed their first great-grandson Ryder followed by Braxton, Johnnie and Hudson.  Toms' love for his family and his dedication to his work defined his life, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and hard work.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Beryl McGraw and Neva Stites and her husband Bill; granddaughter Elizabeth Harris; Geri's twin brother Gerald Mitchell and brother-in law Larry Lybarger plus numerous beloved friends and in-laws.

Tom is survived by his wife Geri and 3 children, Jodie (Kelvin) Harless of Sterling; Adam (Camille) Rose of Sterling; and Amy (John) Harris of Garden City, KS; seven grandchildren Taylor (Cole) Wagner of Sterling; Staff Sergeant Ethan (Hayle) Rose of Fayetteville, NC; Kylee (Robert) Thompson of Cheyenne WY; Sergeant Christian Rose of Laramie, WY;  DJ (Kathryn) Harris of Wichita, KS; Peyton Rose of Centennial, CO; and Sergeant Christopher Harris (Charmane) of Garden City, KS;  four great grandsons Ryder Wagner, Braxton Thompson, Johnnie Harris and Hudson Jefferies;  brother Jim (Cathy) Rose; brother- in Law Dick McGraw; sisters-in law Joyce Lybarger and Diane Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

The family respectfully requests that no plants or flowers be sent, and instead memorial contributions be made to Gideons International C/O, Chaney Reager Funeral Home or Faith Cornerstone Church, 230 Williams Place Sterling Co 80751
