Theresa "Grace" Accomasso, 102, of Sterling, died Friday, April 8, 2022, at Devonshire Acres. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with The Very Reverend Father Michael Bodzioch as officiant.
Grace was born December 8, 1919, in Sterling, CO to James and Pauline (Doglio) DeSoto. She had 11 brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.
She was raised in the Sterling area and attended Sanders and Sterling schools and graduated from Sterling High School in 1937.
On September 21, 1947, Grace married Paris "Pert" Accomasso and moved to the Accomasso Family Farm in Atwood, where she was a homemaker. They were married for 52 years when Pert passed away in 1999. Pert and Grace had two children, Elaine and Pary.
Grace was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic church and the DAV Auxillary. Grace was a volunteer at Devonshire Acres for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and her daily two-mile walks, well into her nineties. She was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. She loved attending her two granddaughter's school events, especially their sports activities and more recently very proud of her three great-grandchildren's accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pert; brothers and sisters: Jim (Angie) DeSoto, Domenic (Frances) DeSoto, Nora (John) Bianco, Gene (Ester) DeSoto, Lillie (Frank) Manuello, Katie (John) Bianco, Tommy (Alba) DeSoto, Albert (Angie) DeSoto, Rosie (Stan) Guenzi, Marion "Oats" DeSoto, and John DeSoto. She was also preceded in death by Pert's brothers, Emil (Clara), Reb, Til, Eddie and sisters, Eve and Lillian and her son-in-law Eugene Martinelli.
Grace is survived by her daughter Elaine Martinelli (Gary Grover) and son Pary and wife Sue Accomasso; two granddaughters, Kari (Andy) Skordas and Tessa (Devin) Heller; three great-grandchildren Reb and Kaebrynn Heller and Slater Skordas; sisters-in-law, Mary Desoto and Jenevieve DeSoto and brother-in-law Frank Chidester. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
