Terance "Terry" E. Carey, 70, died at his home in Yuma, Ariz., on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Chaney-Reager. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Carey was born March 30, 1939, in Sterling, the second son of Harvey E. and Mildred L. Stoltz Carey.
He lived in Sterling during his childhood, his married years and while his children were growing.
He married Margaret Jones of Sterling in 1956 and together they raised Linda, Nancy, Tammy and Harvey Carey. They later divorced and he married Elsie Rainbow in Lawrence, Kan. Their children were Todd, Troy and Tina Carey.
Mr. Carey owned and operated his own truck, hauling grain and other products most of his working career.
He lived the winter months in Yuma while his permanent home was in Colorado.
He was an Elks Club member and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Carey is survived by his seven children, Linda Lee, Nancy Peek, Tammy Wallace, Harvey Carey, Todd Carey, Troy Carey and Tina Megallanes; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Don Carey of Sterling; and sister, Sandy Boggs of Erie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mildred Carey.
