Susan Kay (Leckler) Noffsinger was born on April 30, 1950, in Sterling, Colorado, to Henry Alfred “Al” and Lois (Waitley) Leckler. She grew up on the family farm, where she developed a deep love for home, family, and simple joys — including riding in a goat-pulled cart built by her father. She was especially close to her sister Peggy, and the two enjoyed performing musical medleys together. Sue fondly remembered her large extended family and the stories of those early years.

Sue attended Northeastern Junior College, where she was active in student government and graduated at the top of her class. There she met the love of her life, Ben Noffsinger of Wray, who proudly called her his “Susie-Girl”. They married in 1971, beginning a devoted partnership of 54 years. Sue completed her elementary education degree at the University of Northern Colorado while commuting to Greeley, and Ben served on the Denver Police Force. Sue’s never-ending strength and commitment defined her life.

Sue’s greatest calling was her family. She and Ben raised their sons, Jason (1974) and Luke (1978), on their five-acre property lovingly created through her passion for gardening and decorating. They created a life and home filled with outdoor adventures, laughter, and love. She also cherished family trips to the ocean, happily chasing the good light for Jason’s photography and watching Luke sample every new food — especially lobster.

When her boys were in school, Sue became a tireless volunteer and fierce advocate, serving on numerous school committees and attending every one of the boys' games and events. She later returned to teaching as a preschool teacher at the Early Childhood Center in Westminster District 50, where countless students were loved by “Miss Sue.”

Her family grew to include daughters-in-law Julie and Jess, whom she taught many valuable lessons, including the importance of adding pudding to Lemon Cake. Her most important title came as she became Mimi to her grandchildren Emma, Blake, Bear and Jaxon. Sue and Ben remodeled their home into a warm gathering place for their grandchildren, filled with books to read, art projects, park days, and favorite movies. As they grew, she was a fixture at their schools and events as she had been for her own boys. During this time, Sue also lovingly cared for her mother, Lois, with the same devotion she gave her family.

Sue faced health challenges in her later years with grace, strength, and the fierce love that defined her life. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Sunrise Senior Living of Westminster. Her legacy is a reminder that the greatest gift we can give one another is love — freely given, lived, and always shared.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sue is survived by her immediate family, all of whom still live in Westminster, and includes her husband, Ben; her sons Jason (Julie) and Luke (Jess); her grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Bear and Jaxon; her sister Peggy (Don) Brown of Yuma, CO; brother-in-law Curtis (Barb) Noffsinger of St. George, UT; and sister-in-Law Lorri (Randy) Stone of Loma, CO; plus nieces and nephews Tyson (Lisa), Sabrina, and Alex (Gretta) Brown of Yuma, CO; Shawna (Brian) Winn of Omaha, NE and Cullen (Mary) Noffsinger of Manson, IA; Jody (Travis) Robson of Fruita, CO, Amanda ( Scott Mulford ) Stone of Grand Junction, CO and Matt Stone of Glade Park, CO. She is also survived by numerous grand nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
