Shirley Dorine Green, 92, of Sterling passed away September 13, 2016 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, September 15 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 16 at Faith United Methodist Church with Pastor Jodi Harless officiating. Private family burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Shirley was born August 1, 1924 to Harry and Alice (Barnes) Grauberger in Sterling. She was raised on the family farm in the Kelly/LeRoy community and graduated from high school at Harding in 1942.
After graduation she supported the war effort by working at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, California. After the war she returned to Sterling where she saw Frank Green across the room at a church social and told the girls she was going to get him to marry her.
She married Frank J. Green on April 21, 1946 in Sterling. The couple farmed northwest of Sterling until 2007 when they moved to the Legacy Assisted Living Center in Sterling. Frank passed away on December 23, 2008.
Shirley was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Woman's Auxiliary of the Gideons and United Methodist Women. Shirley was a volunteer for the Cooperating Ministry for several years. She also enjoyed making crafts for all occasions. She especially loved working on ceramics and cake decorating.
She is survived by her daughter Deanna Eskew and husband Steve of Sterling, sons Dan and wife Brenda of Los Angeles, Brad and wife Jolene of Grand Junction; grandson Dillon Green also of Grand Junction; sister Beverly Johnson and husband Calvert of Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, parents; brother Lee and sisters Jody, Patricia and infant Sharon.
