Sharon Gay Smith, 56 of Sterling, died peacefully surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer and MS on Tues., Nov. 24, 2015 in Sterling. Family will be receiving family and friends from 5pm until 7pm on Fri., Nov. 27 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Sat., Nov. 28 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with services concluding at church.

Sharon was born March 7, 1959 in Sterling, CO to Stanley A. and Mildred M. Miller Koester. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1977 and continued her education at NJC.

Sharon married Audie L. Smith on May 20, 1978 in Sterling, CO. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Her life calling was her husband, her two daughters and her grandchildren. Sharon enjoyed going to Curves and coffee with her friends. She also enjoyed gardening, doing yard work and going to Black Hawk.

She is survived by her father Stan Koester of Sterling; her husband Audie L. Smith of Sterling; her daughters Shannon Brenkendorff and husband Shannon and children Brooklyn, Leighton and Paxton of Aurora, CO, Sara Lock and husband Ryan and children Brynlee and Nolan of Sterling, CO; sisters Sandy Malcomb of Cody, WY, Connie Walker and Randy Roth of Green Valley, AZ, Bonnie Anderson of Fort Collins, CO, Peggy Hoff and husband Doug of Greeley, CO, Nancy Davis of Wheatridge, CO; her special dog Zoey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by her mother Mildred Koester.
