Sharon was born July 5th, 1944, in Hayden, Colorado while her father was serving with the Navy in the Panama Canal Zone during WWII and her mother was waiting in Craig, Colorado. After the war, the young family moved to Illinois before finally settling in Sterling during the oil boom.
Sharon attended Sterling schools and graduated from Sterling High in 1962. She continued on to NJC where she earned her associates degree in 1964. She also studied dental hygiene at Rangely Community College. Sharon's teachers considered her a good student, a sweet girl and frequently reminded her siblings to shape up!
Sharon returned to Sterling and married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Dickinson on September 4, 1965, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. They were married for 56 years until he passed away in 2022.
Sharon was an exceptional typist and worked in a variety of positions including the Logan County Extension Office, NJC Library, Overland Trail Museum and the Sterling Correctional Facility. However, she always considered her most important job as being a wife, homemaker and mother to their children Michele, Mike, and Craig. Although she was raised in town, she loved farm life. Her greatest joy was living in and raising her kids in the country.
She and Bob raised hogs for a time, and her sister remembers seeing Sharon in the pens standing in the muck helping Bob deliver piglets. Sharon also loved going to her parent's vacation home and fishing at Red Feather Lakes.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Michele West, son Mike Dickinson, son Craig (Khrystie) Dickinson, all of Sterling, and sister Valerie (Lee) McMahon of Greeley.
She is also survived by grandchildren Lisanna Wilcox, Adam Dickinson, Alec (Nayeli) Dickinson, Wiley (Jennifer) Dickinson and Ross Dickinson, great grandchildren Kohen and Brynnlee, with another on the way and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, brother Dan Correll, parents Buck and Eloise Corell and grandson Jordan Wilcox Bates.
