Sam Arthur Moore, 95 of Sterling, Colorado passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at his home. Visitation and family to receive friends will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 15, at Sterling Berean Church with Pastor Dan Holsten officiating. Sam will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.

Sam was born June 18, 1927, in Moberly, Missouri to Orville and Blanche (Mann) Moore. Sam grew up in and attended schools in Missouri. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 23, 1946, and was honorably discharged on September 23, 1947, as a Private First Class.

Sam married Phyllis Ann Tappy on December 11, 1954, in Sterling, Colorado. Sam worked on custom harvesting crews throughout the years and worked at Excel Beef Plant, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed raising hogs and doing various construction projects such as building corrals, side boards for ensilage trucks, roofing and building additions to the house.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ann Moore in 2011, and his parents Orville and Blanche.

Sam is survived by his two sons Dale Eugene Moore and wife Fran of Sterling, CO, and Kent Russell Moore and wife Jennifer of Greeley, CO, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
