Sally Lee (Berg) Henry was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on the Sabbath day of October 25, 2026, at 89 years of age. She was surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren, and friends in the Haxtun Health Extended Care Unit when she died.
Vigil and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29 at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager FH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 30 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fleming, CO. She will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
Sally was born in Sterling, CO on March 22, 1937. She attended Fyfe Country School in rural Logan County through 8th grade and then St. Anthony’s High School in Sterling. She met the love of her life, Bob “Slim” Henry in the Spring of 1957 on a bit of a disastrous blind date, where he got a nosebleed on her nice, white sweater. Their next date was a few weeks later and it turned out much better. They were truly in love and were married on November 17th of that year. Bob often said the days were much better knowing he had “his little gal waiting for him at the end of the day.”
Sally spoiled her family and friends with her cookies, pies, banana and zucchini bread. She enjoyed her flowers, crochet, cross-stitching, and rooting for the Denver Broncos, but her passion was sewing. Every one of her kids, grandkids, and great grands have a blanket, or dress, or pajama pants, or quillow, or hot pads, or bowl cozies, and many of us are also privileged to have a hand-cut/pieced/and sewn quilt from her. Sally also sewed many dresses and crocheted afghans for various charities. She was a member of the local Red Hat ladies club, adventuring with her friends around the Colorado plains and belonged to Christ the King Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society, cooking and serving at many dinners and services for her friends and neighbors.
Sally was a bright light, filled with love, and will be missed by her friends and surviving relatives: Brothers - Bill (and Dorcus) Berg and Dale Berg; Children - Robert (and Penny) Henry, Brian (and Lyn) Henry, Susan Hinck, Janet (and Alan) Kohl, Amy (and Seen) Robinson. She was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren: Cristin, Rikki (Bob’s kids), Lisa, Zack, Tisha, Deven, Charilyn (Brian’s kids), Joshua, Jennifer, Katie, Kaleb (Susan’s kids), Alec, Rebecca (Janet’s kids), 33 great grandkids, 4 great-great grandkids, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dixon Henry (2009). She reunites in Heaven with her husband and parents, Theodore and Agnes Berg, her siblings, Mary Jane, Evelyn, Ted, and Gerri, grandson Nickolas Henry, nephew Gordon, and nieces, Sharon and Sandra, and many cousins.
