Ruth Propst, 83, of Atwood, died Nov. 15, 2007, in Atwood. Memorial services will b be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at First Presbyterian Church in Sterling with the Rev. Michelle D. Witherspoon officiating. Services will conclude at the church. There was cremation. Private family inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Ruth was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Pueblo, Colo., to Melvin M. and Mabel (Kingan) Nix. She lived in Rocky Ford until 1936, when the family moved to Sterling. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1942. She played the flute in the high school band.
On Nov. 11, 1945, she married Wendell T. Propst in Sterling. They moved to the family farm in Atwood in 1951, where she had resided since.
Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian Church and BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336. Her hobbies included golf and bowling, and Ruth enjoyed her Wednesday and Thursday lunch groups. She also enjoyed shopping and road trips.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Propst and wife Carol of Johnstown, and Timothy M. Propst and wife Leta of Atwood; daughter, Jennifer R. Minor and husband John of Forest Grove, Ore.; brother, Melvin Nix and wife Jean of Sterling; grandchildren, Julie Grauberger, Thomas Propst, Aaron Propst, Shauna Houser, Brian Propst, Tori Propst, Scott Minor, Alan Minor and Steve Jacobs; and great-grandchildren, Kenya and Kyra Grauberger, Liam and Elli Propst, Tiffany, Cody and Kaylee Propst, Shelby, Kolton and Derek Houser, Alexandra, Jordyn, Samantha and K'lyn Minor, and Thomas and McKenna Jacobs.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mabel Nix; husband, Wendell Propst; sisters, Lucille Jay, Dorothy McDaniel and Margaret Cord; and great-granddaughter, Vayle Propst.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of the Plains.
