Ruth Hein
1914 - 2008
Ruth Hein, 94, of Sterling, died Sept. 11, 2008, in Sterling. Private family services will be held at a later date. There was cremation. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1914, to Joseph and Nancy (McAmis) Humbert in Coin, Iowa. She graduated from high school in 1932 and attended beauty school for one year in 1934.
Mrs. Hein moved to Sterling in 1942. She worked at Gambles from 1946 to 1977, when the store burnt down. She then went to work at Coast to Coast for one year before retiring.
On July 23, 1946, she married John Hein in Sidney, Neb.
Mrs. Hein was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a life member of DAV Auxiliary, Does No. 213, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered to drive veterans back and forth to Denver.
She is survived by her son, Phillip O. Reed and wife K. Louise of Ashland, Kan.; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hein, on June 3, 1998; and two daughters, Phyllis Harris and Patty Masterson.
