Ruth Imogene Dawson, 94, of Sterling, passed away April 13, 2012, in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Jared Sonnenberg officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
Ruth was born Jan. 3, 1918, in Exline, Iowa, to George and Margaret (Caster) Rennie. She graduated from Logan County High School and continued her education for three more years, graduating from Mercy Hospital in Denver.
Ruth worked as a registered nurse at the Logan County Hospital.
On Oct. 3, 1942, she married Everett H. Dawson in Manchester, Conn.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Campfire Girls, Rainbow Girls, Mercy Hospital Alumni Association, Colorado Nurses Association, American Nurses Association.
She moved from Iowa to Colorado in 1926, living in Sterling and Denver. She lived in Connecticut after her marriage until 1944. She moved to Denver, and then Sterling in 1945.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Jane Dawson Malmquist and husband David, and their children Drew Dawson Malmquist and Shane David Malmquist of Colorado Springs; son, George Leonard Dawson and wife Sally of Gainesville, Fla., and their children, Gregory Everett Dawson, Christopher Edward Dawson and wife Laura, Kathryn Marie Dawson; two great-grandchildren; and Amy VanAllen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Everett Dawson in 2002.
Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling handled the arrangements.
