Rudy Meyerholz, Sr.

Rudy Meyerholz, Sr., 92, of Sterling, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, in Sterling. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery, with memorial services to be held at a later date.
Mr. Meyerholz was born Feb. 3, 1915, to Carl Henry Meyerholz and Myrtle Laura Beebe in Belgrade, Neb. He attended White Dove Elementary School and Crook junior and senior high schools, graduating from high school there.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served six years. He was honorably discharged on July 25, 1940.
On Nov. 26, 1937, he married Mary Schell of Padroni in Sterling. The couple lived in San Diego, Calif. until 1944, when they returned to Crook and purchased the Crook Hardware Store. They operated the hardware store until 1952, when they purchased a farm south of Crook. They farmed until 1974, when they sold the farm and moved to Sterling.
Mr. Meyerholz was a member of the Haxtun Masonic Temple. His main hobby was making out income taxes for friends and farmers in the Crook area.
He is survived by his son, Rudy Meyerholz, Jr. of Lafayette, Calif.; daughters, Myrna Weigel and husband Pete of Billings, Mont., and Kim Owen of Evergreen; brother, Mahlon Meyerholz of Sterling; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 2000; two brothers and a sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to Meet and Eat in care of the Sterling Heritage Center. Chaney-Reager Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
