Roxie Marie Shadrick, 75, of Sterling, died July 24, 2008, in Sterling. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with services concluding at the church.
Mrs. Shadrick was born July 30, 1932, to Ralph Ephrain and Eva Edna (Schmidt) Baird in Guernsey, Wyo. She attended school in Bridgeport, Neb.
She moved to Sterling in 1951, where she worked at the Purple Sage and Graham Hotel.
On Oct. 16, 1960, she married John W. Shadrick in Sterling. They moved to McCook, Neb., for two years, and then returned to Sterling, where John was employed in the oil field business.
Mrs. Shadrick was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and collecting milk glass.
She is survived by her two adopted children, son, Rex Shadrick and wife Patti of Sheridan, Wyo., and daughter, Kim Carleton and husband Tom of Sterling; brother, George Baird of Torrington, Wyo.; sisters, Betty Westman of Reno, Nev., and Beneva Heil of Torrington; grandchildren, Abigail Shadrick, Brittany Carleton and Tanner Carleton; and great-grandchildren, Maceo Marangoni and London Carleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John Shadrick, on March 8, 2008.
Chaney-Reager Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
