Robert William DeVita, 72 of Sterling, passed away Tues., April 5, 2016 in Greeley. Visitation will be Fri., April 8 from 10am until 4pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sat., April 9 at 10:30 am at the Berean Church with Pastor Daniel Holsten officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on Tues. April 12 at 11am, staging area A.
Robert was born May 14, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph Peter and Catherine Weiland DeVita. He graduated from high school and continued his education for five more years. He entered the United States Air Force March 1964 and was honorably discharged March 1968. He continued his service with the United States Army from Aug. 1973 until Oct. 1975.
Robert married Vicki M. Brownell on July 9, 1966 in Denver, CO. They moved to Sterling from Arizona in 1992. He was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Sterling Regional MedCenter from 1992 until 1998. He then worked at the Brush Hospital from 1998 until 2011.
He was a member of the Berean Church. Robert enjoyed woodworking.
Robert is survived by his wife Vicki M. DeVita of Sterling, son Robert W. DeVita and wife Amy of Farmington, New Mexico, daughter Donna K. Cole and husband Gary of Powell, WY, brothers Bill Keeley and wife Patty of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Pat Keeley and wife Julie of Lake Geneva, Ill. and John Keeley and wife Barb of Baldwin, MO, sister-in-law Donna DeVita of Huntley, Ill., grandchildren R. J. DeVita, Jessica DeVita, Courtney DeVita, Nathaniel Cole and Samantha Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph and Richard and sister Gloria Ravnsbeck.
