Obituary

Richard Glenn Stoops 75, of Sterling passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in Greeley, CO.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, at The Rock Assembly of God Church with Phil Kloberdanz as officiant. The service will conclude at the church with a luncheon to follow.

Richard was born August 13, 1948, in Yuma, CO to Frank Earl and Violet Alberta (Nelson) Stoops. He attended school and received his GED on May 5, 1989, at Northeastern Junior College.

Richard was a truck driver for DLD Grain and Feed of Big Springs, NE for many years and he also worked in the oil fields.

Richard married Mary Lou Bennedict on August 17, 1974, in Sterling, CO. He enjoyed fishing, watching Wheel of Fortune, working cross word puzzles, he loved his pets Sugar and Spice, reading his Bible, doing devotions arranging family reunions, spending time with family, going to church, being on Facebook, and spreading the gospel.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Stoops, parents Frank and Violet Stoops, nieces Dewana Morrison, and Penny Genereux, siblings Dale Stoops, Wm. Earl Stoops, Sandra Sanchez, Vedra Reed, and Lois McMillan and other extended family members.

Richard is survived by his sister-in-law Modesta Stoops of Denver, CO, great nephew "George" Jason Jelle (who Richard helped raise), nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
