Richard Ray Rowland, 84 of Sterling passed away Mon, Aug. 18, 2014 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10am until 6pm Thurs., Aug. 21 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10am, Fri, Aug. 22 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Richard was born Dec. 25, 1929 in Onawa, Iowa to Charles R. and Alma A. Hanson Rowland.

He married Beverly J. Arndt on June 7, 1952. They were married for 62 years.

They lived in Denver, CO until 1988 when they moved to Sterling. Richard worked for the phone company for thirty years and retired in 1988. During his retirement he worked on a local farm, went fishing, traveled and in his spare time he worked on his treasured tractors.
Richard is survived by his wife Beverly Rowland of Sterling; daughter Barbara L. Forgett and husband Russell R. of Greeley; five grandchildren Rick, Steven, Kristi, Jennifer and Trisha and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Phyllis and a brother Robert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.
