Richard Eugene Kerschner, 98, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Devonshire Acres. Viewing will be held from 8 - 8:45 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 9:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Spencer Green. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at Snyder Bible Church, 22622 Fisher St., Snyder, CO 80750 officiated by Pastor Evan Eising with a dinner to follow.
Richard was born March 17, 1924, near Willard Colorado. He was one of 7 boys and one girl born to Levi and Frances Kerschner. Richard graduated from Willard High School in 1942. He served in the army on the Aleutian Islands in World War II as a mechanic. He married Alice Aldrich on May 7, 1950. He was a farmer and rancher near Willard. He was active at the Willard United Methodist Church, served on the Willard and Merino School Boards. After Alice passed away in April 1988, he married Lorna Walter in June 1989. Lorna passed away in August 2014. Richard lived in Devonshire Acres for many years. He enjoyed reading, playing pokerino, bingo, visiting his friends and playing happy birthday on his harmonica to everyone in the nursing home on their birthday. His nurses appreciated his manners and patience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his wife Alice, wife Lorna and his daughter Joyce Lobato.
Richard is survived by his children, John Kerschner, Judy (Tim) Grauberger, son-in-law Dan Lobato, and stepdaughters Terry Syslo and Lisa Meador and their families. Three Grandchildren, Richard (Elena) Grauberger, Roy (Kenzi) Grauberger and Alicia (Austin) Couch and 9 Great Grandchildren. Darrell, John, Luke and Leia Grauberger, Waylon and Halle Grauberger and Timothy, Macy and Abigail Couch. Sisters-in-law Bonnie Kerschner and Kaye Aldrich and numerous nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made in Richard's name to the Willard United Methodist Church.
