Richard F. "Dick" Kelly, 76, of Sterling, died Jan. 20, 2010, in Loveland. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with Vigil service and Rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Dick was born April 29, 1933, in Schuyler, Neb., to Patrick Francis Kelly and Helen Hanora Grady. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1951. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska, earning his B.A. degree, then went to Oklahoma State for his Master's degree.

He served Richard Dick Kelly in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957 in Germany. He was honorably discharged.

He moved to Sterling in 1964. He taught at Northeastern Junior College for 30 years in the Math and Science Department and enjoyed sharing his passion for physics and astronomy with others. He retired in 1994.

On Aug. 12, 1967, he married Elizabeth Louise Hudson in Ellsworth, Kan.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336.
He enjoyed playing cards at the Elks Club and crossword puzzles and golf.

Dick is survived by his wife, E. Louise Kelly of Sterling; daughters, Erin Olson and husband Steve of Orem, Utah, Megan Kelly of Sterling and Colleen Kelly of Mason City, Iowa; sons, Kevin Kelly of Houston and Brendan Kelly of Grand Junction; grandchildren, Jordan, Erik, Stefani, Matthew and Kyra.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
