Richard "Dick" Allen Gerbitz, 70 of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Greeley, CO. Visitation and family to receive friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 11 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 12 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Couchenour and Dick's nephew Pastor Larry Gerbitz Jr. officiating. Dick will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service. Dick's family respectfully asked that the friends and family that plan on attending the services to please wear a mask or facial covering.

Richard was born June 22, 1950 to Martin E. Gerbitz and Vera (Innes) Gerbitz in Sterling, Colorado. Dick married Iris Jean County on January 13, 1967. He worked at the City of Sterling as a young man mowing Columbine Park with a walk behind mower. He later moved to Thornton and worked for the city for 10 years. Dick moved and became self-employed for 6 years working in service stations in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO and Sterling, CO. He also worked for Valley Dehydration/Desert Seed, Wisdom Manufacturing and at Industrial Welding.

Dick enjoyed making wood crafted items and was a self-made "DIY". He could build garages from the foundation up. He loved to gamble in Central City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Vera; parent-in-laws James and Irene County; brothers Ernest and Larry.; sisters Joyce and Diana; nephew Joey; ex sister-in-law Susan and brothers-in-law Jack, Bill and Vic County.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Jean; children Norman Lee and Jennifer Ellen De La Fuente and husband Ramiro; grandchildren Shelby, Stephanie and Samantha; great-grandchildren Aria Archuleta and Dante Guerrero; sisters Sherrill and Elizabeth; brothers Edward and Royce and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members.
