Rhoda J. Hurst, 79, of Sterling, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Rhoda was born January 16, 1938, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Ernest George and Frances Fern (Shofner) Elford. She married Dale W. Hurst on July 17, 1964, in Miami, Oklahoma. They moved to Peetz in 1966, and in 1967 the family moved to Sterling. Rhoda was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the American Legion. She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike Mattox; three sisters, Elaine Hamilton, Ernestine Mobley and Frances Colson; three brothers, Frank, Charles and Sam Elford.

Rhoda is survived by her husband, Dale, of Sterling, CO; son, Gary (Ginny) Hurst of Savannah, MO; daughters, Kelly (Terry) Hileman of Conway, MO, and Cheryl (Bridgette Henry) Hurst of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Heidi Hurst, Dustin (Katie) Hurst, Amber Mattox, Brandon Hileman, Koty (Tia) Hileman and Mike (Emma) Mattox and several great-grandchildren.
