Obituary

Reuben Schledwitz, 91 lifetime area resident passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Rev. Kristie Firme officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Reuben was born December 8, 1926 in Sterling, CO to Jonas J. and Katherine (Gantz) Schledwitz. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a corporal during WWII. Reuben married Gwendolyn Wilson on November 26, 1950 in Fleming, CO. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, yard work, playing golf, was a member of the Atwood Men's Club and Sterling BPOE Lodge #1336.

He worked at the Sugar Beet Plant during the 1950's, McAtee Renquist Paving for 15 years and the Sterling Beef Plant for 20 years working in the maintenance department.

Rueben is survived by his son, Tom Schledwitz and wife Krystal of Westminster, CO; daughter, Pat Swingle of Atwood, CO; 6 grandchildren, Casey Swingle, Mike and Vito Schledwitz, Emma Schledwitz, Michele Swingle and Jessica Hallenbeck; 5 sisters, Bette Dawson of Indiana, Florence O'Neal of Sterling, CO, Joyce Young Lichen of California, Shirley Chase of Indiana and Rita Zupancic of Sterling, CO.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn and son, Stephen Schledwitz.
