Obituary

Renelda "Rene" Giacomini, 90, of Sterling, passed away April 3, 2012, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, with Vigil service and Rosary to follow at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Iliff, with Fr. Ken Koehler officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Rene was born June 16, 1921, at home south of Fleming, to Joseph J. and Coletta R. (Uphoff) Foxhoven. She graduated from high school as valedictorian.

On Jan. 4, 1945, she married Thomas L. Giacomini in Sterling. She lived in the St. Peters, Crook and Sterling areas through the years.

She was the secretary for the T. Giacomini Ranch and a homemaker.

Rene was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Patrick's Circle Altar and Rosary Society and BPO Elks Lodge Does 213.

She enjoyed tennis, bowling and most especially, her grandchildren. Rene was a wonderful cook, providing a wide array of creative casseroles and flaky piecrusts for her family. Because she was unable to attend college due to her brother's illness, even though she had received a scholarship, she was very supportive of education.

Rene is survived by her sons, Thomas Giacomini and wife Nancy of Sterling, Ted Giacomini and wife Judy of Sterling; daughter, Jody Giacomini and Jim Gilmer of Westminster; sister, Betty Smith of Sterling; brothers, Larry Foxhoven of Sterling and Jerry Foxhoven of Lancaster, Pa.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Coletta Foxhoven; husband, Thomas L. Giacomini in 1986; brothers, Francis and Melvin Foxhoven.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Devonshire Acres.

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School.
