Ray M. Wilson, 94 of Sterling, passed away Sun., June 19, 2016 in Sterling. Visitation will be Sun., June 26 from 2pm until 5pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Mon., June 27 at 2pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, Rev. Ed Bigler III officiating, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Ray was born March 12, 1922 in Greensburg, Kansas to Dewey and Janet Sutton Wilson. He was married June 12, 1949 in Fleming, CO to Lila S. Wiebers. He farmed in New Haven and Fleming areas. Ray was a school bus driver at New Haven and Fleming for over twenty years.
Ray was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Logan Lodge No. 69. He was affiliated with the Christ United Methodist Church of Sterling. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Ray is survived by his wife Lila S. Wilson of Sterling; daughters Janet M. Ashmore and husband Glen of Imperial, NE and Vickie Wettstein and husband Ken of Sterling; son Ray Dean Wilson and wife Celeste of Grand Junction; sisters Inez Haley and husband Curtis of Corpus Christi, TX, Loretta Shepherd and husband Art of Helena, OK and Mary Vander Kooy of Grand Lake, CO; brothers J.D. Wilson and wife Barbara of Sheridan Lake, CO and Robert Wilson and wife Pat of Aliso Viejo, CA; six grandchildren Randy Ashmore of Imperial, NE; Tom Ashmore and fiancé Shelly Hardesty of Wray; Adrian Ashmore of Imperial, NE; Chad Wettstein and wife Peggy of Merino; Ryan Wettstein and Cassie Hancock of Sterling and Jessica Wettstein and Kendall Burkholder of Sterling; nine great grandchildren, Katrina and Marissa Mellon, Kodie Krueger-Wettstein, Marcus Reeves, Orion and Ariel Goeglein, Kenneth R. Wettstein, MaKenna and Braelyn Ashmore.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Emily Ann Wettstein, brothers Ian, Winfred and Burl (Bud) Wilson and sister Merl Burrows.
