Obituary

Randall Lee "Randy" Spanjer, 68, was called to the Lord as part of God's perfect plan on Oct. 26, 2012. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and dedicated Sterling hospital staff, holding his mother's hand. A private family service will be held Oct. 30, 2012. Celebration of his rich and rewarding life will continue in Illinois and Wisconsin with his nieces and nephews to pay their respects.

Randy was born on his dear father's birthday, Nov. 23, 1944. His father, Melvin Spanjer, passed away March 4, 2008.

Randy lived his entire life with his parents. He was the best help on their farm, never complaining. He won many blue ribbons and trophies with his 4-H projects. He was great with animals.

He moved to Denver with his parents almost 40 years ago. While living in the Denver area, Randy was on Special Olympics teams, winning many medals. Also, Randy worked in a sheltered workshop and his fellow team workers enjoyed him immensely.

The family moved to Sterling in 2005 after his father passed; his mother, Vivian, took care of him and Randy took care of her. They were a beautiful example of mother-son pure love.

Randy will be greatly missed by his mother and sisters, Candace Fryrear and husband Max of Haxtun and Sandra Anselmo and husband Joe of Twin Lakes, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews and their children.

Randy was a blessing to everyone who knew him, setting an example of how to care for others you love, every day of his life.

Chaney-Reager Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
