Ramona Jean Robert, 84 long-time resident of Severy, Kansas died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in Sterling Colorado. A celebration service of Ramona's new life in Heaven will be held at 6:00 pm, Sunday, May 27, at the Sterling Church of the Nazarene.

Ramona was born September 5, 1933 in Monroe, Louisiana to V.B. Hicks and Rachel A Worley. She lived her childhood years in Monroe Louisiana and her early adult life in Texas, Montana and eventually moved to Kansas City Missouri where she met her future husband, Elwin Robert.  They married at St Paul's Church of the Nazarene on November 25, 1960. The couple made their home on the family farm in Severy, Kansas. Elwin and Ramona were married for 50 years and raised three children, Jim, Cindy, and Rhonda.

Ramona's favorite childhood memories were swimming in rivers of rural Louisiana with her family of three brothers and two sisters under the watchful eye of loving parents VB Hicks and Rachael Hicks of Monroe Louisiana.

Ramona was known for her passionate love of children and her exceptional skill of making elaborately decorated cakes for all occasions.  She baked hundreds of cakes over the years with most children in the community of Severy receiving a custom cake prepared and designed by Ramona.

Ramona was an active member of the Severy Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years.  She was a bookkeeper working for the Severy State Bank, Greenwood County Court House, and Severy Coop.

Survivors include her three children, Jim Robert of Dallas TX and his domestic partner Stephen Dahlem, Cindy Welsh and her husband Joel of Johnson City TN, and Rhonda Couchenour and husband Bill and two grandchildren Jonathan and Will of Sterling, CO.
