Phyllis Moore Phyllis A. Moore, 79, of Sterling, died May 4, 2011, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Young and the Rev. Ken Marlow officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was born March 8, 1932, in Sterling to Russell S. and Halcyone (Hoyle) Tappy. She grew up north of Stoneham and graduated from high school in 1950.
She worked in the telephone office, many years at the sugar factory, drove her own truck, waitressed and owned a flea market in Sterling.
On Dec. 11, 1954, she married Sam A. Moore in Sterling.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter and loved to crochet.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Sam A. Moore of Sterling; sons, Dale E. Moore and wife Fran of Sterling, Kent R. Moore and wife Jennifer of Greeley; brothers, Forrest Tappy and wife Judy of Stoneham, Davis Tappy and wife Gail of Sterling; grandchildren, Joshua Gustafson and wife Mallory of Denver, Carrie Bauers of San Diego, Calif., Aliston Ruffin of Bowie, Texas, Adnrew Ruffin and wife Megan of Wichita Falls, Texas; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Halcyone Tappy; and brother, Norman Tappy.
