Peter Lewis Gardiner, 84 of Peetz, CO passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wed., Dec. 13 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80235.

Peter was born October 26, 1933 in Turtle Point, Pennsylvania to James Alexander and Eunice L. (Thompkins) Gardiner. After high school, Peter served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on April 28, 1955. He returned to Pennsylvania and married Donna Mae Haynes in Erie on August 23, 1960. The family moved to Arvada, Colorado in 1964 and he pursued a career at the Gates Rubber Corporation. He worked as a truck driver and after 30 years of dedicated work he retired. Upon retirement, Peter and Donna moved to Peetz in 2000.

He attended church at the Arvada Christian Church and he was a member of the DAV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Peter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna; daughters, Carla Fetzer of Arvada, CO, Jody (George) Gardiner Spitzer of Westminster, CO and Cheryl (Ben) Carver of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Autumn (Joshua) Brewster, James E. Fezter III, Elizabeth (Tim) Ford, Jeremy Gardiner, Evan Carver and Keegan Carver; great-grandchildren, Issac and Hannah Brewster; and his sister Eileen Eunice Hogg of Cambridge, OH. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eunice; brother James A. Gardiner, Jr. and sister Isabella Stull.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peters' memory to the Arvada Christian Church, Hospice of the Plains or the DAV in care of Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, PO Box 1046, Sterling, CO 80751.
