Penny Lynn (Rhodes) Genereux, 55 of Sterling went to her Heavenly home on Friday, July 28, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Viewing and family to receive friends will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 6 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 7, at Rock Assembly of God Church with David Stoops and Pastor Tim Hazen officiating. Penny will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.

Penny was born July 26, 1968, in Sterling, Colorado to Kenneth A. and Sandra L. (Stoops) Rhodes. She attended Franklin Elementary School, Sterling Junior High and she graduated from Darrel Smith Academy School. She worked as a bartender, and a server at J & L, the old mill Plainsman, Trea 99 and the Nightshift Saloon. Penny married Christopher Genereux in 1992 and they later divorced.

Penny was a member of Rock Assembly of God Church for many years. Her faith and belief in Jesus Christ were very important, and she shared that love with everyone. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Candy Crush, camping, singing, flagging, praying, going to concerts and collecting coins. Penny's biggest joy in life was her grandchildren and all her great nieces and nephews. She always had a freezer full of popsicles for kids when they came over to visit.

She is preceded in death by her mother Sandra Rhodes Sanchez; infant son Ryan Genereux; sister DeWana Morrison, and nephew Elijah Metcalf.

Penny is survived by her daughter Stephanie Genereux of Aurora, CO, sisters Kimberly Rhodes Williams and Kandi Metcalf both of Sterling, CO; granddaughter Ava Richardson and grandson Jhavonne Matthew Richardson both of Aurora, CO and her father Kenneth Rhodes and wife Marilyn of Sterling, CO. She is also survived by her best friends and loving companions Toby Mac (her Maltese good boy) and Bo Kitty.
