Obituary

Peggy Ann Swedlund, 73, of Sterling Colorado passed away from this life into the arms of her Lord surrounded by her family on Monday, January 17, 2022. Viewing will be held from 1-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with family to receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Peggy's memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sterling. The service will conclude at the church.

Peggy was born September 26, 1948, in Denver, Colorado to James A. Flanagan and D. Maxine Foster. She graduated from Ranum High School in Westminster, Colorado in 1966. Peggy married her beloved husband Kent Swedlund on June 10, 1967, at Riverside Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. She has three children, Tracy, Todd, and Trista that were the love of her life.

Peggy has touched many lives with her work and involvement in many organizations. She worked mainly in retail for many years. She was a member of PEO Chapter BG and Alpha XI Master Chapter Beta Sigma Phi. Peggy also served on the Logan County Lodging and Tax Board, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, and Family Resource Center Board. She faithfully served as the State and National Trustee for Cystic Fibrosis Foundations. Peggy was named as Colorado Jaycees outstanding young Coloradoan in 1980.

Peggy's faith in God was a major part of her life and lived out in her involvement in Christian Women's Club, various Bible studies and small groups through the years. Peggy and Kent have been actively involved in the United Church of Crook. Peggy was well known for her outstanding entertaining and love for others. Peggy was known to say, "no one loves Christmas, family, and friends more than I do". Her generosity and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father James A. Flanagan.

Peggy is survived by her mother D. Maxine Flanagan, husband Kent Swedlund; children Tracy Swedlund of Medford, WI, Todd (Angela) Swedlund of Sterling, CO and Trista (Steve Waller) Swedlund of Fleming, CO; grandchildren Aimee Swedlund, Adam Swedlund, Madilyn Monroe, Alexa Hutt, Payton Swedlund and Brock Swedlund; brother Pat (Kathy) Flanagan; sister Penny (John) Cannon and brother-in-law Gary Swedlund, as well as several nieces, one nephew, cousins and many friends.

The family respectfully requests no plants or flowers and that contributions be made in Peggy's memory to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Rocky Mountain Chapter, 400 S. Colorado Blvd., Suite 840, Denver, CO 80246.
