Peggy Jean (Plank) Acott, 76 passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Brush, Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 12 at the Fleming United Methodist Church with Pastor Jodie Harless officiating. Inurnment will be at the Fleming Cemetery.
Peggy was born January 2, 1942 in Sterling, Colorado to William and Florence Plank. She was raised in Fleming, Colorado and attended the Fleming School system. She married Tom Acott and moved to Fort Collins for a number of years where their daughter Kristine was born. They returned to Fleming where they began farming. Peggy received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and worked in the Sterling area for many years. The couple divorced in 1981 and she moved to Sterling where she continued her medical training and worked as a Respiratory Therapist at the Sterling hospital. Later she moved to the Fredrick area with her companion Carl Smith.
She was very active in the Republican Party and was very fond of Ronald Reagan. She was a long time member of The Optimist Club, holding many leadership offices within the organization. She loved her grandchildren very much and spent many many hours in the bleachers watching their livestock and sporting activities.
Due to her declining health she spent the last few years of her life in Eben Ezer Caring home in Brush, Colorado where she was well cared for and made many close relationships.
She is survived by her daughter, Kris and husband Steve of Keenesburg; five grandchildren, Trevor (Lacie) Schreibvogel, Brady Schreibvogel, Dana (Drew) Lentz, Spencer Schreibvogel and Kellie (Reed) Stone; two great granddaughters, Kinley and Allie Schreibvogel, sister Shirley and brothers Bill, Bob, John and Mark as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and Carl Smith.
