Obituary

Paula Jean Burton went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the morning of April 27th, 2016. A memorial service led by Pastor Sean Cole will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sterling on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10am. Services will conclude at the church.

Paula was born March 21, 1949 to Robert F. Westcott and Wilma B. (Long) Westcott in Sterling, CO. Paula lived in Sterling nearly her whole life, graduating from Sterling High School in 1967. She earned her Associates Degree at NJC in Sterling, and went on to earn her Bachelor's in Elementary Education at UNC in Greeley in 1971. At NJC she met Glen W. Burton, and they were married on May 8, 1970. While her life's work can most accurately be defined as homemaker, Paula had many skills and talents that she shared unselfishly, enriching the lives of everyone close to her. While raising three children and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren, she also was the bookkeeper for GWB Welding, Glen's business, both in the 1980's and more recently in the past 10 years. Paula utilized her teaching degree as a math teacher for a short time at Cornerstone Christian School in Sterling, and home-schooling her youngest, Joelle. For her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren Paula served, uncomplaining, as babysitter, snuggly lap, chauffer, seamstress extraordinaire, cook, math-homework tutor, teacher of Bible stories and songs, patient listener, and giver of encouragement and hugs. She served her church family at Emmanuel Baptist Church in a similar fashion, working in the children's ministry and hospitality team faithfully since joining the church in 1983. Her friends at EBC were close to her heart, welcomed into her life and loved unconditionally. Her home was always open to friends to come and craft, eat, talk and laugh. Paula displayed her deep faith quietly through example, loving everyone with the love of Jesus.

Paula is survived by her husband, Glen; son Jared Burton and fiancé Mindy Rawlings of Eaton, CO; daughter Jeneen (Cullen) Trump; daughter Joelle Keith; brothers Robert D. Westcott of Thornton, CO, and Donald A. Westcott; sisters-in-law Avis LaFayette, Lola (Roy) Rasmusson, brother-in-law Lyle (Shari) Burton; grandchildren Ashley (Aaron) Overturf, Andrew Burton, Bryony, Darcy and Camryn Trump; and great-grandchildren Ridley Browne and Claire Overturf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Laddie & Coral Burton; and sister-in-law Leah Clark.

Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Children's Ministry.
Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling is in charge of arrangements.
