Paul Elmer Melvin, 94, of Fleming, died Sunday, Aug. 11, in Yuma. A graveside inurnment with military rites will be held at Riverside Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, with the family requesting your presence immediately following service for a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Seventh Day Adventist Church fellowship hall, S. Third Avenue in Sterling.
Paul was born Dec. 20, 1918, to Julius and Minnie (Gullion) Melvin in Brush. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, owned and operated his own grain hauling business, and on Dec. 29, 1975, he married Laura J. (Lambert) Brown.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3541 in Sterling, and also a member of Moose Lodge in Brush.
Paul is survived by his wife, Laura J. Melvin of Fleming; six children, son Paul Edward Melvin and wife Twyla of Chino Valley, Ariz., daughter Lori Bredehoft and husband Mark of Brookfield, Mo., daughter Shari Brown of Estes Park, son Wade Bronstin and life partner Alan of Bonita Springs, Fla., daughter Pamela Hurst and husband Daniel of Fleming, and son David Melvin of Fleming; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lloyd Melvin in 1970; and brother, Ellis Melvin.
