Paul Dwane Giles, 84 of Sterling, passed away Wed., March 2, 2016 in Sterling. Closed casket going home service will be 11:30 a.m. Fri. March 4, 2016 at the Berean Church, Pastor Daniel Holsten officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B, Denver, CO at 11:30a.m. Tues., Mar.8, 2016.
Paul was born Aug. 8, 1931 in Denver, CO to Leroy and Annie Dell Murphy Giles. He graduated from Idaho Springs High School and continued his education for two more years. Paul entered the U.S. Air Force on March 31, 1951 at the Greenville Air Force Base in Mississipi and served as a clerk until his discharge March 30, 1955, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He married Patricia Ann McLean on March 2, 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were married for 58 years. Paul was a missionary for Northern Canada Evangelical Mission-Northern Village Ministries. He was instrumental in starting the Northern Village Ministries in 2000 and continued working until his passing. Paul moved from Denver to the mission field in Saskatchewan, Canada from 1984 until 1999, when he moved to Sterling.
He also worked at Mountain Bell Phone Company where he started as a lineman and many years later retired as part of the management team. Paul was a member of the Berean Church.
Paul is survived by his wife Pat Giles of Sterling; sons Dave Giles and wife Joy of Aurora, CO and Ronald Giles of Sterling; sister Lorene Prior of Salt Lake City, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Donald Giles, daughter Cindie Giles, sister Maxine Spencer, brother Eugene Giles.
