Pat Wilmer Freeburg, 87, passed into his loving Savior's arms on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 in Greeley, CO.
Viewing will take place from 10-6 p.m. Thursday, December 29, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling with family present from 4-6 p.m. There will be a memorial and celebration of life, 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30 at the Berean Church of Sterling with Pastor Daniel A. Holsten officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
Pat was born on November 1st, 1929 to Rollo "Casey" Freeburg and Goldie (nee Johnson) Freeburg in Carmen, Oklahoma. He spent his early childhood in Cherokee, Oklahoma but soon moved to Alamosa, Colorado, where he graduated from high school.
He served in the US Navy from 1948 until 1952 after which he attended Rockmont College (now Colorado Christian University) in Denver, Colorado, where he met his wife Beth. He completed his degree at Colorado A&M University and began work as a microbiologist in Denver.
Pat and Beth were married on June 16, 1957 and enjoyed life together for 55 years and first lived in Denver. In 1960 Pat and Beth moved to Sterling, Colorado where he worked as the lab director at the Northeast Colorado Health Department until his retirement in 1986 and continued to live until his death.
Pat was a member of Sterling Berean Church and active in the church throughout his life. He was especially passionate about the work of the Gideons International where he was past president.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beth, his parents, Rollo and Goldie, one sister, Lois Irvine of Pueblo, Colorado, and one son, Paul.
Pat is survived by his sister, Wilma Martin of Sterling, Colorado, a daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Brotherton of Greeley, Colorado and a son, John (Marcy) Freeburg of Rye, Colorado. He was so proud of his grandchildren Laura (Scott) Sigmon of Henrico, Virginia; Robert (Elisabeth) Brotherton of Dodge City, Kansas; and Casey, Caleb, and Kyle Freeburg of Rye, Colorado; and four great-grandchildren, Everett, Elizabeth, Trevor and Eleanor.
