Obituary

Norbert Francis Stratman, 86 of Sterling passed away Thurs., Sept. 18, 2016 in Sterling. Vigil service and Recitation of the Rosary will be 6pm Wed., Sept. 28 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30pm Thurs, Sept. 29 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Norbert was born June 1, 1930 in West Point, NE to Carl and Lena Stratman. He attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Sterling. Norbert spent four years in the Navy from 1947 thru 1950, mostly in Corpus Christi, TX. He worked for Secklers Feed Lot, Fred Young Hay Service, Sonnenberg Feed Lot and Farr Better Feed thru the years.

He married Elizabeth Hinton at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sterling, CO on July 23, 1953. To this marriage a son Timothy W. Stratman was born and died October 14, 1977. Norbert and Betty were divorced.

Norbert was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. For many years he raised rabbits and also mowed grass and removed snow for many Sterling residents.

Norbert is survived by his sisters Joan Montgomery and husband Bob of Sterling, Lena Schritter and husband Clarence of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lena Stratman, sisters and brothers-in-law, Gertrude and Lumir Hamsa, Mary Ann Stratman; brothers and sister-in-laws, Verdell (Rudy) Stratman, Dale and Dorothy Stratman, Charles and Helen Stratman and several nieces and nephews.
