Obituary
Nora Monteen Cummings, 66, of Sterling, died March 6, 2010, in Sterling. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with the Rev. LeeRoy Pickering. Services concluded at the funeral home.
She was born May 3, 1943, in Seagraves, Texas, to Charles W. and Mattie (Weaver) Miller. She graduated from high school in 1960 in Lubbock, Texas.
She lived in Sterling from 1978 until 1986, and worked for Dr. Elliff and Dr. Buchanan doing service for fitting eyeglasses. She returned to Sterling this last year from Loveland.
On Aug. 14, 1961, she married J.C. Cummings in Lubbock, Texas.
Mrs. Cummings was a member of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed the Nora Monteen Cummings outdoors, hiking, biking, snowshoeing and backpacking and reading.
She is survived by her husband, J.C. Cummings of Sterling; sons, Troy Cummings and wife Patti of Houston, Texas, Scott Cummings and wife Sandy of Sterling; brother, Sammy Miller and wife Louise of Carlsbad, N.M.; sister, Mary Katherine Holder and husband Wayne of Lubbock, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Miller of Texas; grandchildren, Autumn Shea and husband Brian, Zachary Cummings, Cameron Cummings, Emily Cummings, Jacob Cummings, Jessica Cummings; and great-grandaughter, Amelia Shea.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, W.R. Miller.
